Presentation

This mini-school is designed to help young researchers develop a shared scientific culture within the rapidly expanding community of rare-earth ions for quantum science.

The meeting will be held at the CNRS center in Aussois, which offers all the necessary facilities for a mini-school in the mountains. We suggest that participants arrive on the evening of April 13th so that they will be present for the start of the mini-school on the morning of April 14th.

Program

The programme includes:

  • Tutorial lectures (45 minutes each) given by leading scientists;
  • Short-talk sessions where each participating research group can highlight contributions from their young researchers;
  • Poster sessions, open to all participants.

We are delighted to confirm the following tutorial speakers:

  • Diana Serrano (CNRS, IRCP): Rare-earth-doped materials
  • Anne Louchet-Chauvet (CNRS, Institut Langevin): Classical signal processing
  • Andreas Walther (Lund University): Single ions
  • Mikael Afzelius (University of Geneva): Quantum memories in atomic ensembles
  • James O'Sullivan (CEA): Paramagnetic defects
  • Thierry Chanelière (CNRS, Institut Néel): Optical–microwave transduction

Fee

 Participants will be asked to cover the cost of their stay (accommodation + meals, from April 13th including dinner, to April 16th including lunch), of the order of 400€ per person. The final price will be communicated later, as it will depend on the total number of participants.

Organizers

  • Anne Louchet-Chauvet (Institut Langevin)
  • Perrine Berger & Sacha Welinski (Thales Research and Technology)
  • Flora Segur (PhD student at : Thales Research and Technology, and Institut Langevin)
